Thursday Morning's Project

Took a little break from regularly scheduled activities on Thursday to get a little one here. She was born at 11:34, was 6 lbs. 7 oz. and was 18 1/2" long. I'll inundate you with a few pictures. And her name is Greta. So far we've really liked it on her :). (whew!)

So Thankful. . .

for fun little projects that have carried me quickly through these last few weeks of pregnancy. Baby (name still undetermined--we're starting hit panic mode!) is due March 8 and so we are down to just a little more time. And I'm still working away on a few more fun things. . .which helps the time pass a little more quickly and it lifts my spirits so much to be creating.

Made this little book a couple of weeks ago. Really struggled with how to put it together, but I ended up being happy with the results in the end. It is just a little thankful journal with tabbed categories to write thoughts in.

I also have made a couple of birthday count down calendars. They are so so fun! One is a sneak peek that will be auctioned off on the blossoms blog next week and the other is the one that already sold. If you can't tell, they are a muffin tin with magnetic covers for the holes that hold treats or trinkets to be received every day before your child's birthday. Fun stuff! Even though I'll take this baby at any moment, I'd really like to get a few more projects off my table before. . . either way, life is good!

Thanks to Technology

This is what Tess and I did this morning. Grandma has Mary and Drew this weekend so we got to chat with them. (I think more of Tess's cousins should invest in a web cam!)

Gone for just a minute. . .

It's a luxury to be able to go to the bathroom these days without a little Tessie shadow. But this afternoon she was engrossed with the TV for a moment so I thought I could sneak off. I was gone 2 minutes-ish and as I was walking back down the hall I heard "Mmm, this is good. I like this."
(Hadn't put Tom's Valentine's cake in the oven quite yet because I needed it to do most of its baking while I ran and got Cache from school. . . ) When will I learn my lesson that this child is not to be left unattended even for a minute!?!

For a few of my readers. . .

Here is what we were doing 22 years ago: (Julie Boyack, Melodee Greene, Jen Spatig, Margaret Kindred, me, Julie Erickson)

My friend Jenny and I were sitting in Mr. Derricott's English class feeling quite bored and sick of winter and decided to have a beach party. We made up these little invitations (typed up on her oh, so cool, typewriter using the italicized font!), got little RX bottles from Preston Drug and personalized the labels. (forgive the blurry picture. . . I'm not super patient today!) Then we decorated her basement. We made a lovely (heh) mural and turned the supporting beam into a palm tree. We made watermelon cookies (a recipe from Seventeen Magazine) and had a picnic. And we played "pin the sunglasses on the hunk" (can you see his picture in the background on one of the photos?) Fun times!

Happy Things

A few random happy things that have been meandering my mind lately:*Cute little conversations with Tess such as this as we were driving home and we were on the look out for trucks:
Me: Tess, look there is a white truck.
Tess: Where?
Me: Over here on this side.
Tess: Oh, I sorry mommy. I didn't see it. I missed it. But I okay.

*Looking SO forward to stake conference this weekend. We have an amazing stake presidency that always give amazing and inspiring messages.

*It is raining today instead of snowing as forecasted. Maybe it will melt the snow!

*I'm thankful for kids doing so well in school. We had parent conferences last night for Chandler and I was tickled to hear that his teachers can depend on him to be a positive leader and good example. Academically he is also excelling. . . . so thrilled because I've been a bit worried about him. The other two have been invited to participate in math competitions. It makes me happy they are working hard and doing well.

*I finished up my final class for recertification this week and I mailed off my money and application this morning. Feels so good to have that insurance policy in place.

*Feeling thankful that my sister has a doctor that seeks revelation for treatments.

*Visiting teaching. . . I am thankful for the opportunity it gives me to make friends and provide service. I really need both.

*I'm especially thankful for the calm feelings of patience I've been enjoying. At this point in pregnancy I usually battle severe depression but I have been amazingly patient with my present condition and know it is divine intervention. SO GRATEFUL.

*The Internet. . . I love that I can search for recipes and other information right here in my little warm home. I'm also thankful for blogs and people who share insights, ideas and tidbits about their lives. I have gained so much from it all.

*Little crafts. . .I'm thankful I have the opportunity and supplies to make fun things. They keep me energized and upbeat.

*The opportunity to be an instrument for Heavenly Father. . . It has been such a blessing to present sharing times once a month. I'm thankful that I can do Internet searches to find ideas and then be led to know which ones to use and how to implement them. And in cases like my presentation this month, none of the ideas I came across seemed right for our Primary so when I prayed about it I was flooded with the right ideas for our Primary. I'm so thankful to have access to that power.

*Tom. . . . He is so sweet and caring and charitable. Being a blended family comes with challenges but he is the most perfect example of acceptance and charity that I know. Such a blessing.

*How wonderful is it to have a living prophet? I am thankful everyday for President Monson's words of guidance and counsel.

*Lists of things to do. I'm thankful I'm able and capable of being productive. I'm thankful my lists consists of things that take care of my family and those around me.

What's making you happy today?
